I took my boyfriend for dinner to celebrate his birthday and we had such an amazing experience. We were greeted so warmly at the door, it was really nice to feel so welcome. The space is beautiful, large ceilings, a really cozy fireplace, and the tables were spread apart enough where you had plenty of space to be comfortable and enjoy. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable with both food and wine pairings. He suggested a great bottle of wine, at a great price for us to enjoy. We started with the Benjamin Salad for two and the Sizzling Canadian Bacon, both were delicious, obviously the bacon was for sure the highlight! For our entrees, my boyfriend had the USDA Prime Ribeye, and I had the Chilean Sea Bass. Both were excellent, but the Ribeye was phenomenal, seriously like melt in your mouth good. We had a long meal and never once did we feel rushed, the waiter was incredibly attentive, and kind, especially since I called ahead and said we were celebrating a birthday, they made us feel really special. The chocolate mousse cake was phenomenal. We ended our dinner with a drink at the bar, which is lively, but not packed. Overall, a really special night, I can't wait to make this a tradition for every birthday, and any other chance we get in between!

Excellent food and service! My husband and I visited Benjamin Steakhouse for our anniversary dinner. We read the many reviews and are so glad we gave it a try. We arrived about 30-45 minutes before our reservation, and they seated us right away. They even let us select which area we wanted to sit (upstairs). The restaurant has a nice ambiance. Some people were dressed up while others were a bit more casual. There was a definite feeling of a nice steakhouse. The crackers and bread along with the sauce (not sure what it was) was very good; the sauce is a must try! I ordered the broiled lobster and my husband the filet mignon. We shared creamed spinach, mashed potatoes and mushrooms. The lobster came with the tail already pulled out of the shell, and when I was ready, the waiter broke open the claws so I didn't have to deal with the mess. (A big plus!) The lobster was very good, and I couldn't come close to finishing it. My husband's filet was to die for! We never go out for steak b/c we are always disappointed (hubby is a self-made chef and steaks are his specialty), but this filet was exceptional! For the person who reviewed that their filet was not cooked enough doesn't understand how a filet should be cooked. A properly cooked filet will not be cooked more than medium rare, and it is much better on the rare side. The mashed potatoes were incredible; they were spot on perfect. I wasn't impressed with the creamed spinach though, and my husband enjoyed the mushrooms. After a nightcap and coffee, we ended our dinner. The waiter was always ready when we needed him but did not hover over us. I highly recommend this restaurant. If you want a great steak and a great restaurant in NYC, go here!

I have no idea why this place is being talked up. Went with my boyfriend and two friends looking for a good NYC steakhouse for our last night in the city. Service was fine until our food came. We ordered medium rare steaks and they were practically charred on the outside and medium plus on the inside. When we told our server they were overcooked he said, Really?, then walked away. No apologies and then he practically disappeared for the rest of the meal. I would never recommend this place or go back. Pretty disappointing. Also, the table next to us sent their steaks back because they were way overcooked. They didn't even ask us to cut into our steaks or ask how the food was. Bad service.

Excellent Service, Excellent food This restaurant was recommended by my niece's boyfriend who works as a concierge at the Palace in NYC. Great atmosphere, and top notch everything. It was my first time in NY in May this year. Definitely the best place I ate at my 2 weeks there. I'm sure there are other great places, but that was really good

Great food, fun atmosphere, a little pricey The service was everything you could ask for, friendly and fast. Had the Chilean sea bass, it was a large piece cooked perfectly. You have to order side dishes a la carte, but it is OK if you are going with a large group because you can share. Great meal!
