This place is simply amazing and I highly recommend it. It is a bit expensive but in my experience completely worth it. The staff is always friendly and I have never had an issue with the food. Walter on the piano is a treat to listen to and also takes requests. This is a great place to go to for special occasions. Very romantic! Was this review helpful?

This place is off the charts! I have admired from afar for many years. I have purposely been delaying my first visit to share with someone special, really special. Here came my evening a la CANLIS this past July 2011. It was a surprise! I didn't even know my date was taking me there until last minute. And this, by the way, was a first official date. It's a good thing I was wearing something decent. Dress code is absolutely enforced there. I am definitely NOT complaining. I appreciate that aspect very much so. I did not picture at all that this would be how my Canlis visit would play out. I had always planned to wear my black Dolce & Gabanna fitted dress with my Gold, Gucci heels, all planned out and have a serious boyfriend at the very least. Seriously, I was quivering with excitement as we drove up. Can I say this? CANLIS is definitely my panty dropper. I never knew I had one until I entered. Service top notch, valet greets you, walk in and see everyone dress to the nine's on a weekday as per usual, amazing interiors inside reminding me a hint of Beverly Hills-esque aroma and the impeccable views romancing you. The 7 course dinner astounding! The froi gras, the truffle fries, the leek soup starter, eggplant ravioli, lamb, ALL instrinsically delectable. I paired it off with some moscato in their ultra sleek and skinny tube like glass. For the record, I did not eat all that in one sitting. I did go there on another date the next week after. I will continue to revisit CANLIS, use it as my runway and practice my etiquette. Was this review helpful?

The Doctors Bright 46 years ago we were graduate students at the University of Washington.. We couldn't afford MacDonalds, let alone Canlis, but we always wished we could eat there. Finally, last week we made it and it was worth the wait. Magnificent view and fabulous atmosphere, great food, superb service and even a tour from the floor manager (thanks David). From that tour we got an idea of what it takes to run a great restaurant. We went with a friend from many years and she and her husband had eaten there five years ago. She had phoned ahead for reservations the week before. The night before they phoned her and reminded her of the reservations and checked to see if they had changed their address. Immediately after the tour we shook hands with the manager and our car was waiting at the door. These were signs of a great staff operating with superb efficiency. This was quite possibly the finest and most memorable dining experience of our lives--so far. We would recommend this restaurant with great enthusiasm. Love this place! Bit of a foodie myself, and I must say I was impressed with everything this restaurant has to offer. Extensive wine list, perfectly prepared food, I could go on and on. I highly recommend it!Was this review helpful?

Some people go for the service, others go for the food, but everybody goes for the view. Or to act out a fantasy to be on the Mad Men set. My husband and I have spent numerous anniversaries and birthdays here. It's a classy place to celebrate or entertain. There is a dress code, so gentlemen, wear a jacket. Was this review helpful?
